Since traveling to India and Africa and actually seeing mosquitos as big as flies I have armed myself with information on safe bug repellant. My goal was to find non-toxic and DEET free formulations as I enjoy the outdoors here in Colorado and on my travels. I found a variety of formulations available for purchase at most health stores and Whole foods. Additionally, you can keep a couple of these tips in mind to avoid these annoying and also disease carrying bugs.
-Eat plenty of garlic. Garlic has been shown to keep blood sucking monsters like vampires and mosquiotos away! Please note, that this may impact your ability to share a romantic kiss by the campfire!
-Grow lemon balm in your window sill or in a pot. It has many uses, one of which is a mosquito repellant when crushed and rubbed on the skin.

I have spent some time with my step mom in PA and every time she goes to work in the garden or woods she pins a fourth of a dryer sheet to the outside of her shirt. I tried it and it worked-no bugs!
That’s a great tip! Thanks Kim!
